Graphite

commodity description

Graphite is a mineral consisting of a crystalline form of carbon, with a dark grey, opaque and soft appearance. Graphite occurs naturally in igneous rocks but can also be manufactured synthetically in very high degrees of purity.

MAIN APPLICATIONS

Graphite’s extreme resistance to heat and inertness in contact with most materials give it a wide application in manufacturing and metallurgy. It is also used in electronic components due to its excellent electric conductivity.

The application of graphite includes pencils, lubricants, polishes, batteries, and lamps. High-purity graphite is essential in the production of LEDs, solar panels, semiconductors, and has also shown potential to play a crucial part in fuel cells, electronic cooling, and supercapacitors.
